7 Reasons Christians Travel
Fellowship
The dictionary defines fellowship as: the state of sharing mutual interests, experiences or activities; an association of persons having similar tastes or interest; and as a company, guild, or corporation. According to the apostle Paul, fellowship is a communion, or a relationship, between man and God. All Christ followers are in communion not only with Jesus and The Father through the Holy Spirit, but also with one another. The modern definition leaves out the religious significance of the word. All types of organizations use the catch-all term of fellowship for activities that are devoid of religion. Many people assume that a fellowship gathering or trip is a get-together to make friends and have a good time with a fun non-religious activity, i.e. the first definition: the state of sharing mutual interests, experiences, or activities. This is only fellowship in the modern sense if it leads to the 2nd or 3rd definition, i.e. an association or a company. And it’s only a fellowship in the Biblical sense if the shared interest, experience or activity is a communion with Jesus and the Father through the Holy Spirit.
To be a Christ follower literally means to follow Christ. Jesus is The Way; The Path. We follow Christ. By doing so, we are in communion or fellowship with Jesus and The Father through the Holy Spirit. On that same path are all Christ followers. We are also in fellowship with each other. However, it is not enough just to share the pathway with other believers. Fellowship comes from the formation of an association, a company or a team. We should strive to make a fellowship with all believers and to make a fellowship with those closest to us.
2 Corinthians 6:14-16 “Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can goodness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness? What Harmony can there be between Christ and the Devil? How can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever? And what union can there be between God’s temple and idols? For we are the temple of the living God.”
Our closest circle of team members is our family. These are the people we spend the most time with, the people of this world that it is most important to be on the same team with. Families live together, work together, pray together, and attend Church services together. A family trip to the right destination could be just the thing for bonding in fellowship with the most important members of the team. You have a choice in the people and businesses that you associate with, the organizations that you attend, and the people that you travel with. The more that we fill our environment with fellow believers, the more easily we remain on the Pathway in fellowship with God and each other.
This website is about bringing Christians together to share their experiences on The Pathway and to give them opportunities to travel with their group and/or find a group to travel with on The Pathway. The “Daily Way" blog on this website is an opportunity to travel virtually in fellowship with other Christian travelers and to share the experience. The “Travel” section of the website is a resource for organizations and individuals to find the best travel opportunities for their journey. The most desirable way to travel is to share the experience in fellowship with those closest to you. The next best way is to join in with others who share your same interests and values; that is: in fellowship with other Christians. The third most desirable way to join the fellowship is to travel and share your perspectives to others. If you are a Christian, and you travel, you are a Christian traveler.
