Jeremiah 36:2-3
"Take a scroll and write on it all the words that I have spoken to you against Israel and Judah and all the nations, from the day I spoke to you, from the days of Josiah until today. It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the disaster that I intend to do to them, so that every one may turn from his evil way, and that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin In the time of Jeremiah there were many false prophets and Jeremiah was not beloved by all. However, if you evaluate the wisdom of his message, there is no fallacy to be found. Here he is saying that you should repent so that God can forgive you of all these things you have done wrong. Presented with this truth, the king chose not to believe and not to repent. The king was placing his own judgement above that of God.
