Luke 1: 1-4
Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us,  Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word; It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus,  That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed.

Here is a passage where my story is cooler than what is probably the truth.  Luke is writing an account for the most excellent Theophilus.  Nobody knows for sure who Theophilus is.  One idea is that he is a Roman official and that Luke wrote his gospel and the book of Acts as a legal defense for Paul.  However, in latin, theo means god and philus means follower.  Would a Roman official be named god follower?  My idea is that Luke, through inspiration from God, was writing a personal letter to me, and you, and all those who consider themselves a follower of God.  I have heard that when you read the Bible that God is personally speaking to you.
