Parables
Jesus told the crowds all these things in parables. He did not tell them anything without using a parable. This was to fulfill what was declared by the prophet when he said, "I will open my mouth to speak in parables. I will declare what has been hidden since the creation of the world."
Matthew 13:34-35
Matthew 13:34-35
Jesus taught using parables so that those who listened could understand by correlating the lesson to something that they knew. We've tried to adapt these lessons to things we know in our modern world. Hopefully, we can get a chuckle from you, but this is just our take. Please share with us your story and your take in the comments.
Fishers of MenFishers of Men is our bit off-center look at the story of Jesus recruiting his first two disciples Andrew and Peter. Andrew immediately drops what he is doing and follows Jesus. Peter thinks about the meaning of Jesus' words.

Finding The Way
Left to our own devices, we follow the wrong course in this world and end up dead in our trespasses. In Jesus, we are alive and made new. Jesus is The Way!

A Simple Thing to Do

There is no magic in things. Naaman was not healed by bathing in the Jordan River 7 times. He was healed when he obeyed God and followed the instructions that God had provided for him.

Destination Back Stories
Now faith is the assurance that what we hope for will come about and the certainty that what we cannot see exists. By faith our ancestors won approval. By faith we understand that time was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was made from things that are invisible.

Door of ReconciliationSaint Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin is filled with enough historical artifacts, monuments, tributes, and art to to intrigue a visitor for days. However, many of these gems require the viewer to know the back story in order to see "beyond the bricks". One such site is a simple wooden door with a rectangular hole chopped into it.

The Legend of Finn McCool
"Legend" and "according to tradition" are terms used to describe a back story that is made up, or at the very least, very much exaggerated. Before Patrick came to Ireland and taught the people about God, they made up a story about giants to explain how about 40,000 basalt columns had come to be arranged in such a fashion as to seemingly form a causeway from Northern Ireland to Scotland. The phenomenon is named "the giants causeway" of course.

The Magic of Saint Patrick
The story of Saint Patrick has been told many times and perhaps over time some exaggerations have been made. Some of the feats told of him would require that he had magic powers to have accomplished. We suggest that he didn't have magic powers, but perhaps did know the magic word.

The Rock of Lymric is just a big chunk of rock on a pedestal. Without a back story, you would just be looking at a chunk of rock. Let's see beyond the bricks.
